Who is Teine? Teine is a green clubtail dragon, bonded to Mira Sorrengail, Violet's older sister. The Empyrean Series den guide (a fan reference), Empyrean Riders, Fantasy Fangirls and Screen Rant all agree on green and clubtail, so those two details are the most solid facts we have. Beyond that, the sources are thin, and this page says so wherever they run out.

What does the name mean? Empyrean Riders glosses Teine as a Gaelic word for fire, which is a curious fit for a green dragon whose breed is usually described as calm. That is a single fan source, so treat the meaning as a reasonable gloss rather than something the author has spelled out. We found no age, size or hatching details for him in any page we opened, and we will not guess at them.

What makes a green dragon a green? The den guide describes greens as intelligent and calm, and says they descend from the Uaineloidsig and Cruaidhuaine lines. Fantasy Fangirls calls them rational and especially useful for siege work. Both pages give the same approach rule: show submission by lowering your eyes, wait for the dragon's approval, and do not back down. Our approach guide covers how that plays out in practice.

Why does the clubtail matter? Screen Rant describes clubtails as dragons with bludgeoning tails ending in a solid mass that can deliver crushing blows, rather than cutting edges. The den guide and Fantasy Fangirls both single out green clubtails as the ideal siege build, and Teine is the green clubtail named in every guide we read. Whether Teine himself has been shown fighting sieges, we could not confirm from these pages.

Is Teine the only clubtail? No, but he is a rare example. Fantasy Fangirls lists Molvic, a blue clubtail ridden by Aaric, and one other guide lists a red clubtail called Dagolh. Another fan reference also gives Molvic as blue. Rider names for these secondary dragons vary between guides, so check the book before quoting them.

What signet goes with this pair? Mira's signet is extending wards, and Empyrean Riders phrases it as being able to extend shields. Fantasy Fangirls calls her a ward weaver and a first lieutenant, and notes she belongs to the Quest Squad. The signet belongs to Mira, not the dragon, but the pairing of a ward-extending rider with a siege-minded green is one fans like to point out. That reading is ours, not a statement from any source.

Spoilers: Threshing Day

How did Teine and Mira bond? A Winter Is Coming article on the Threshing Day book says Teine is intimidating at their meeting and tests her composure and pain tolerance. It says Mira stands firm while he rips up the forest around them, and that he digs a claw into her leg when she refuses to yield. The article does not state why he chose her, only suggests it was her calm under pressure. Screen Rant adds that the Threshing Day book explains why Mira wanted a green clubtail. We could not read the book itself, so this is a secondhand account.

Spoilers: Fourth Wing

What is the connection to Violet? Empyrean Riders says Teine's scales were used to make the defensive vest Violet wears for protection. Screen Rant adds that when Violet is at the presentation, two green dragons approach her because they smell Teine's shrunken scales on her. The Empyrean Wiki, which we could not open directly, reportedly also mentions a corset made from shed scales, so treat that detail as unconfirmed.

Spoilers: Fourth Wing

What is at stake for the pair? Fantasy Fangirls states that a rider dies if their dragon dies, while a dragon can outlive a rider and bond again. That ties Mira's fate to Teine's and applies to every pair in the series. We did not find a source covering what happens to Teine in later books, including Onyx Storm, so we say nothing about it here. Check your copy before drawing conclusions.

Which sources disagree? Mostly the neighboring greens. Fantasy Fangirls and the den guide differ on Cuir's tail, with one saying swordtail and the other leaving it blank. Feirge's rider appears as Rhiannon Matthias in one place and Liam Mairi in another. Two AI character-chat pages describe Teine as a whiptail or a red daggertail, but they are not reliable and we ignore them. Teine as a green clubtail ridden by Mira is the version every serious guide agrees on.

Can you get Teine in Dragonkind? We have not played Dragonkind. Per the author's FAQ, all dragon colors and tail types are possible in Dragonkind, but we found no list saying that Teine specifically appears, or that a named dragon can be bonded at all. If you want a green clubtail result, the Dragonkind page and the color guide explain what is known from press and player reports.
